We answer a lot of questions about what dogs can and cannot eat here at Coyote Ridge Veterinary Clinic and Urgent Care, a new veterinary hospital in Fort Collins, Loveland and Windsor. People love to feed their dog from the table. Often this is ok except for two major reasons: 1. The food is too fatty for the dog and 2. The food is toxic to the dog. Fat is one of the most common causes of GI upset in dogs and cats. If the animal is not used to it, fat can trigger an inflammatory reaction in the gut and causing vomiting, diarrhea and more serious conditions. The other reason not to feed just anything to your dog is some human foods are toxic to dogs such as onions, grapes, raisins and chocolate containing products.
If you are curious about healthy treat options for your pet or concerned they may ingested something toxic, please call us today at 970-663-7387. We are available 6 days a week for urgent care and are always accepting new clients for our general practice. We look forward to serving you as your pet’s new local veterinarian.
